Professor Derek Edward Dawson Beales, M.A., Ph.D., Litt.D., FRHistS, FBA, Fellow and formerly Vice-Master, Dean and Tutor of Sidney Sussex College, Professor of Modern History Emeritus and sometime Chair of the Faculty of History, died on 10 July 2023, aged 92 years.

Malcolm Gerloch, M.A., Sc.D., Emeritus and formerly Staff Fellow in Chemistry and Tutor for Graduate Students of Trinity Hall, died on 24 September 2023, aged 84 years.
