The Master and Fellows give notice that Professor Jacques Brunschwig (Professor Emeritus, Université de Paris-I) will lecture on Revisiting Plato's cave on Wednesday, 28 April, at 5 p.m. in the Theatre, Christ's College.
Christ's College is offering a one-year Research Scholarship in History, designed to support scholars at an early stage of their research career. The Scholarship may be used to support a year of pre-Ph.D. independent study. Previous Scholars have used it for learning a language or mastering some adjacent scholarly field. It is not designed to support an M.Phil. The Scholarship is open to graduates of any university. They must have received their first degree by August 1999 and not have graduated earlier than June 1998. Holders of the Scholarship must become members of Christ's College. The Scholarship is worth £6,000. It also pays £2,000 to £4,000 as a supplementary maintenance allowance.
Application forms and further details may be obtained from the Director of Studies in History, Christ's College, Cambridge, CB2 3BU. Completed application forms should be returned to the same address by 1 July 1999.
